"FINAL AUDITION, Last Chance for the Role of a Lifetime" is an inspirational new comedy written and directed by Chicago playwright, John Ruane, whose skills were developed at the famed Second City Theater.

This fast-paced 90-minute professional production promises to be a fun experience right from the start. Entering the auditorium, you will be transported back to 1993 in Chicago, hearing the voice of legendary Chicago TV & radio host, Bob Sirott, informing all about the big news of the year while playing the greatest hits of 1993, one of the best musical years of the 90s.

FINAL AUDITION centers on the story of Sally Cochrane, whom after 30 years of heartache and struggle trying to make it as an actress in Chicago, is ready to give up on her dream and go back to Normal (Illinois). But, when she learns that famous director, Nick Michaels, is returning to his hometown to cast his next Broadway play with Chicago actors, Sally is torn between doing one final audition or just going back to Normal.

Sally is first introduced at The Wells Street Hotel in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood,  a unique establishment that mainly houses actors.  Sally supports herself managing the hotel and must keep order among the eccentric group of Broadway hopefuls, characters who reveal their quirks and foibles as they get to know each other preparing for the big audition.  The comedy arises from their anxieties, interactions and quest for respect. Real romance develops among one couple, while another is purely manipulative with the hope of landing a leading role.

But it’s Sally’s story that is the focus of the play, revealing the struggles she has faced and challenges she has overcome in a three-decade pursuit of her dream.

Throughout the play, performed by a talented and professional cast, there are many poignant moments, as well as hilarious character interactions , and fun musical scenes that will have the audience laughing and smiling throughout the three act play.

In all, the audience can expect a fun and very entertaining evening, filled with laughs and more than a few tears. The heartfelt story will leave you wanting to come back and experience it all over again.
